Is it safe to change v_TaskGroup? RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Hi everyone,

    From MS documentation

    https://docs.microsoft.com/ja-jp/powershell/high-performance-computing/release-notes-for-hpc-pack-2016-update-2?view=hpc16-ps#support-huge-number-of-tasks-in-job

If you want to have more than 30 thousands of tasks/parametric tasks, you need to modify the existing v_TaskGroup view in the HPCScheduler DB so that it is more efficient as below

Let's say after changing the view, no performance was improved. Then can i change it back to original view without effecting DB?

  • Hi Khoi-Thinh,

You can change it back safely. Btw, what's your job/task and the perf results that indicated no perf gain?

  • Hi Yutong,

In the last thread that you gave the answer with regards to "deploy a remote server"

    https://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/6c8ee9db-c9fb-46d4-a83c-244423f5bea4/job-in-quotvalidatingquot-status-for-1-hour?forum=windowshpcsched

    My team is considering that

But before that, just a last resort, we wants to check if by changing the v_taskgroup can help or not.
