  • You can activate your Windows Vista installation by performing the following:

    1. Click on the Start button and in the Search programs and files box type in:  slui.exe 4

    2. Press the Enter key on your keyboard.

    3. Select your Country.

    4. Follow the instructions for phone activation (no charge).

  • Thank you.  I tried that without any luck.
The phone number was no longer active.

now, if anyone has an active phone number, . . .

  • thank you for your continued efforts to help me.  But i couldn't successfully get through.
The minute i say Vista, they disappear saying they can't help anymore.
i'm being told in Control panel that i only have one day left.

so, i'm going to e-mail this link to myself.

I'm trying to help my sister-in-law.  she can't aford a new computer.
And she uses this laptop for project she does at church and with her grandchildren.
(We're kind of old.)  So i reformated her hard drive and re-installed vista.

but now i can't activate it.

    any advice is greatly appreciated.

  • Unfortunately, Windows Vista has reached the end of its product lifecycle and is no longer supported by Microsoft. Only thing to do is purchase Windows 10 and perform a clean install. Example

  • I would suggest trying the Activation center for your area -

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/licensing/existing-customer/activation-centers.aspx

See if they can help get you activated

  • Thank you for your great suggestion.  I just got done spending over an hour trying to get help.  but both the website and the very nice man i spoke to could not help.  he agreed that i had a valid copy of wiindows vista, but they don't support vista and didn't have any activation numbers that he could give me.

    any other  ideas?
