Windows is genuine but now it claims it isn't RRS feed

  • Question

  • My parents bought this laptop some months ago from a large, reputable store (I can't imagine them installing pirated copies). The laptop came with windows 7 ultimate installed and it has worked flawlessly since then until a couple days ago when it started showing an activation message at startup. Wallpaper has gone black, too. I tried running the validation thing but I don't have the key so I can't finish. Reading other threads I downloaded and ran the MGAdiag thing and this is what it outputs.

  • The installation of Windows 7 Ultimate has been enabled by an Activation Exploit called RemoveWAT.

This model appears to have shipped as standard with Win7 Home Premium installed.

You need to revert back to the original OS using the manufacturer's Recovery Media, after backing up data to external media.
