I've been using this computer for a couple of years now, but I just got this message at the bottom right of my screen today.  I know I have a genuine copy because I got it from the store.  I originally bought this computer with Vista installed, but it came with the Windows 7 upgrade disc.  I haven't had any issues until today.

And as suddenly as it appeared, it disappeared.  Is this normal?

    Yes - and no :)
Running the MGADiag report can itself fix some minor errors as it forces re-evaluation of the license.

Occasionally, a race condition can lead to a temporary non-genuine status, which is cleared by a reboot or by running validation checks or MGADiag.

There are a couple of things you can do to help yourself.

    1) Install the WAT Update (KB971033) - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971033 - you'll need the 64-bit version. This will allow better information next time you have to run an MGADiag report (if ever)
    2) go to www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate to confirm your current install - this should clear the one remaining minor error in the report.
    3) Uninstall that counterfeit copy of Office Enterprise you currently have installed <g> and replace it with a legal version of an appropriate Office suite (either MS or LibreOffice - or something else)
