Open or import existing Money files to Money Plus

Question
-
Purchased new computer with Windows 8 after previous one crashed. Previous Money files were ported over to new computer, but software to open the files was not. I do not have the software for Money, so downloaded Microsoft Money Sunset for Home and Office. Although I can open the Sunset program, I can't import the previous Money files or open them with the Sunset program. Ideas on how I solve this dilemma; the files are very important. Thanks for any advice!Monday, July 15, 2013 10:45 PM

I am having the same problem. I previously ran Microsoft Money 2005. When I try to open the old file with Microsoft Money Sunset, it tells me that it will now upgrade the old file and then when I click next, it crashes and says "Microsoft Money has stopped working". This is the error detail:

Are you sure that Money 2005 was a US version? If so, one possibility is that you need to replace the Sunset version of mnyob99.dll with a patched version. See the first post in this forum:
If your Money 2005 was a UK or international version, you need to uninstall Sunset and then download and install the appropriate version.
If none of this solves the problem or if you need help in doing the mnyob99.dll replacement, post back. Include the version of Windows that you are using (XP, Vista, Windows 7, ...).
