    I ALSO HAVE TRYED EVERYTHING THAT I CAN FIND TO INSTALL THIS,TO NO AVAIL;;THE ONLY THING THAT I HAVE LEFT TO DO IS TO HAVE ONE OF YOUR TEC'S  COME TO MY HOUSE WITH BILL GATES  AND I'LL LET YOU TWO HOLD THIS THING UP AT CHEST HEIGHT ; AND I'LL GET MY NEW AUTOMATIC 300 SHOT PER MIN; SHOTGUN THAT I JUST PURCHASED FROM BLACKWATERS SECURITY  AND I'LL BLAST THE WHOLE  THING TO PICES AND THEN YOU TWO CAN TELL ME IF I HIT IT OR NOT.....WHY DON'T YOU SNEEK INTO MY MACHINE ( LIKE YOU DID ONCE BEFORE WITH MY PERMISSION ) AND DOWN LOAD EVERYTHING,SEND IT THROUGH THE WASH AND FOLD CYCLE THEN PUT IT BACK IN , AND SOLVE THIS PROBLEM..????OR IS IT MY FAULT FOR BUYING MICROSOFT INSTEAD OF MAC.????

    We request all users initially run the Genuine Diagnostics tool to try and identify the problem you may be experiencing.  Did you receive any error codes and/or statements whatsoever indicating a failed validation?  Please try validating windows again by visiting the following location:  http://www.microsoft.com/genuine next click on the "Validate Windows" button in the upper right corner.  What happens?  The genuine site can also provide you with valuable information so please take time and review the documents.  Another site for helping customers identify genuine vs. non-genuine software is located here:  http://www.microsoft.com/resources/howtotell/

     

    Next please download and run the utility at this link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012, then click the Windows tab, Copy to Clipboard, then paste the report into a New Post on this Forum.  This would assist us immensely so we may analyze possible causes for a failed validation.  Next we will begin formulating a resolution for what may be causing the problem.

     

    Step 2 is telling us about the COA. Tell us:

    1. What edition of Windows XP is it for, Home, Pro, or Media Center?

    2. Does it read "OEM Software" or "OEM Product" in black lettering?

    3. Or, does it have the computer manufacturer's name in black lettering?

    4. DO NOT post the Product Key.

    5. Please also provide a short description of the issue you are experiencing.

     

    NOTE: The data collected with the Genuine Diagnostics Tool does NOT contain any information that can personally identify you and can be fully reviewed, by you, before being posted.

  • Hello Bill,

     

    We understand the inconvenience you are currently experiencing and would like to provide you with some self-help options we have made available for our customers. Please follow the steps outlined below as it could either resolve your issue or, if need be, provide us with additional information to determine the cause of this issue.

     

    1.      Ensure you log onto the computer experiencing the issue with “Administrator” rights.

    2.      Next we would like to confirm that you are running the most current version of the Genuine Advantage control on your computer. In order to do this please follow the below link and choose the “Validate Windows” option.

    If the above steps did not resolve your issue lets continue with the steps below.

    If you could also please follow the steps outlined below, the diagnostics Web Site will attempt to resolve the validation errors you are experiencing with Windows.

    Next follow the on-screen prompts to resolve the issue if any of the checks at the above site fail. If, after attempting to resolve the issue as per the instructions on the above site fails, please refer to the link below and run the MGA Diagnostics tool:

    You will be prompted to either “Run” or “Save” the tool. Choose to “Run” the tool and follow the on-screen prompts. You will receive an “Internet Explorer-Security Warning” dialog box for the “Windows Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool”; you must choose to “Run” this tool when prompted.

     

    Once you are presented with the Diagnostics tool choose “Continue” to run the diagnostic report. If the “RESOLVE” button is available after running the diagnostics, please click “RESOLVE” to allow the diagnostic tool to attempt a repair.

     

    1.      After running the MGA Diagnostic tool, click on the “Windows” tab and then click on “Copy”.

    2.      Please return to this post and “Paste” the results here for additional review.

     

    Step 2 is to look on the computer itself, in the documentation you received with the computer or with your retail purchase of Windows to see if you have a Certificate of Authenticity (COA).  If you have one, tell us about the COA.  Tell us:

  • o.k. i did everything that you sent for me to do...everything was o.k.   with one exception,  when i ran the tool and tried to cut so i could past to the thing you sent,it would not let me cut or pastas for what disks i have they cost me right at 1,000.00 dollars, they are  hp media center pc      windows xp media center edition 2005 upgrade with a official hp logo aand a number at the bottom center of the disk     5013-3920  and in the center around the inside center in fine gold print it says      hp 5013-3920 product of canada8881094015-0018zomax canada.   i did-not recive a card bord box, just the two cd s in a plastic sealed disk holder

    any thing else we can try please contact me tonight as i leave for la.  and seattle , then up to b/c  and won't be back for about two weeks....thank you BILL K.
