DbSyncColumnDescription - how much info is needed ? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm trying to setup a sync scenario between 2 SQL Servers...

the main problem is that neither of the 2 servers has Primary keys on their tables ! (...C5...)

So instead of letting the Sync Provisioner guess what columns are unique, i want to declare those columns in advance...

my question therefore is: how many properties on the DbSyncColumnDescription object, do i need to fill out ?

some samples online suggest that i only need to fill out : UnQuotedName, isPrimaryKey, Size and Type

But there are many more properties on the object - some that might be important ??

    Thanks.

  • i think UnQuotedName, isPrimaryKey, Size and Type is just about right. the other members of DbSyncColumnDescription may be required to be filled up depending on the data type.

  • It would be wonderful if the documentation would supply those information...

but i guess i'll hack away to see if it breaks.

    Thanks.
