Access Edge on an ISA server RRS feed

  • Question

Can I or do anyone install the OCS Access Edge server on the same box ISA 2006?   Since the ISA 2006 server is already on the DMZ and not part of the internal domain, I would guess there should be no issue installing the Access Edge on the same box as ISA 2006.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hi,

There is the unsupported statement which you may want to be concerned about. From the Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 Supportability Guide:

Collocation of any Office Communications Server 2007 edge server with an internal or external firewall or with a reverse proxy is not supported.

Having said that I am pretty sure that you can run the Access Edge role on a ISA Server as long as you know your way with the ISA Access Rules and opening the necessarry ports. However keep in mind that the recommended Edge deployment is to have 2 physical interfaces for your Access Edge so if you are able to comply with that on your ISA Server I would give it a try.

    Hope this helps...
