Do not want CRM Contacts adding/syncing Outlook Contacts RRS feed

  • Question

  • CRM 2011 On Premise

When adding a contact into CRM, our users do not want an Outlook Contact added for anything they own.  Is there a User or System Setting that can automatically disable this?  I can't seem to find anything.

  • Hi there -- yes, if you open your CRM options in outlook you can either disable syncing of contacts on the Synchronization tab by unchecking "Contact" or choose "Modify Local Data Groups" in your CRM menu and disable the rule to sync contacts. The CRM options are found in Outlook 2010 by going to the File menu, click "CRM", then choose personal options. In Outlook 2007 and before, there will be a "CRM" menu at the top of your Outlook screen.

  • Thanks.  I completely missed that.  Is there a way to set that at a system level?  Or is it per the User?

  • The only supported way I know to do this is per user, however I am aware of database hacks to apply this generally (pretty risky). Anyone else want to chime in?
