Letter lookup on Case form RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

I have a Letter lookup on Case form, and when you click on this lookup you have '+' symbol to create a new Letter. The problem is when you click on '+' the Regarding field on Letter form is not auto-populated with underlying Case. Any ideas why?

    Regards,

    Yogesh

  • Hi Yogesh,

When you say you have a 'Letter' lookup on the case form, I infer it must be from a custom relationship you defined. That is not tied to 'Regarding' field which is using the Sys relationship. Try creating Letter from the 'Associated Activities' of Case and the Regarding field will be autoset.

Yes you are correct, it is a custom relationship. I am aware that creating from Associated Activities will auto set theRegarding, however we would like to have provision to create letter from the Case form itself through the lookup.

Is it possible that a lookup for Letter can use the System relationship (so we can get Regarding auto populated)?

    Yogesh

  • you can do that by creating a lookup field of type Case in Letter entity and whenever you click on "+" button, CRM will automatically pops the case information to it. You can write a business rule to check and auto  populate the same to Regarding Field.

You can follow the below link for more details.

  • Yogesh,

As Gopinath suggested, you can use a Business Rule to fill the the 'Regarding' field with the custom field's value.
