Toolkit V 1.1 is missing Backup tab to set backup health notification threshold RRS feed

  • Question

  • Today I installed Toolkit 1.1 and printed the user manual for this version. I immediatly discovered that Microsoft removed the Backup Tab which allowed me to set the Backup Health Notification Threshold to give an "alarm/notification" if a client was not backed up for some reason. Version 1.0 had this tab and capability.

I am using my WHS totally as a backup server for 3 clients and it was very nice to be alerted if a client did not backup for some reason. I will be a hassle to open the WHS Console each morning and check on each client to make sure the backup ran. With Toolkit V 1.0 installed when a backup didn't run I would receive an email from the Remote Notification Add-In.

    Does anyone know:

Why this was removed in V1.1?

Is there another way to be automatically notified if a backup doesn't run?

Thanks - have a super week!!

  • Bill,

This has been mentioned before and If I remember correctly, the rational was that the Toolkit was developed to enable the WHS Team to received errors and log files etc., it was never intended to be a user tool for customisation of their setup.
Have you investigated the Notification Generator, it might help. If not, then maybe the writer could be persuaded to add in the functionality as I also miss the adjustable notification function.
