Screen Saver never comes on RRS feed

  • Question

  • I installed the latest Mesh Tech preview about 1 week ago.
I've noticed that my home computer doesn't have the screen saver coming on anymore.
I normally don't lock it when leaving it because the screen saver locks it after 30 minutes.

I've tested by making my screen saver set to 5 minutes, and it still doesn't come on.

Because of this, I can't remote into the machine from another because the Mesh client states that the computer is in use.

  • Hi Dave,

In order to investigate the issue with your screensaver being disabled, we need to take a look at your Live Mesh logs.  You can submit a bug through Connect, or email them to lmprev@microsoft.com (instructions are in an Announcement at the top of the forums).

You should still be able to open a Live Mesh Remote Desktop connection to that computer, though.  The default behavior when a user is already logged into the machine is: A request to allow the remote connection pops up, and if it isn't rejected (or responded to at all) after a short time (~30 seconds, I believe), the connection is automatically accepted.  Are you not seeing this behavior?

    Thanks,

    Ben.

  • Definitely file a bug, because I've got this working with both Vista-based and XP-based systems.

As a really harsh test step, if you uninstall Live Mesh, does the screen saver behave properly? That's an extreme that you might not want to pursue, and I'd understand your reluctance. But it's sort of the logical next step in identifying the culprit...
