Voice and Video not working across networks, is ICE working? RRS feed

  • Question

  • MOC 2007 Public Beta Version 2.0.6090.0.

Two clients same version. A/V on the same network works fine, once one client goes into a public network (home, another office etc.). A/V will not connect, the call is placed to the other user, the other user answers and then the call is dropped. We have checked our firewall and have not seen any issues with dropped packets etc. We have done several tests. We have turned up logging on MOC and no issues are recorded. If user in public network VPNs into our office a/v works.

It would seem by posts that others have this working without an issue. If it is a 1:1 a/v call, the edge server is not used, correct? Instead the clients go peer to peer, and this is where ICE can help with communciation between firewalls and NATs. Is there something I don't understand. This was a big issue with MOC 2005 and it was our understanding that MOC 2007 and ICE would reduce this issue.

    Help?

    Thanks,

  • If you are having a 1:1 av call with an external user then you will still need to use an edge server.

I presume you are using an edge server as you say that the external user can answer the call but it will not connect, i would say that this is something in your configuration of your edge server. Maybe a blocked port on the firewall?
