CRM 2011 on-prem: Sending E-Mail to multiple recipients - choos template target RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello Forum

If we send an e-mail to mulitple recipients within the webform and import a template afterwards, a popup appears to choos a template target. Does anybody know the sense of this?

    Thanks!

  • Hi,

The reason this happens is that a template is linked to a specific record type (contact, account etc.) When you insert a template to an email, the system needs to know which record you would like to use use when showing the available templates and inserting dynamic data. If you have more than one record in your recipients, you can only use a single one for the template instantiation - hence you must pick.

    Hope this helps,

    Scott

  • Ok, thanks. So you mean only in the case if you have accounts AND contacts in the recipients list. If it's only contacts it's for nothing... Right?

  • If you add multiple recipients in the TO partylist of an email form CRM will only transform the template against one of them...

So you should rather consider using an email quick campaign (or bulk email) after you have selected those contacts of interest. This will transform the template against each recipient and create an email for each.

    Hope that helps
