Unfortunately, you have a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate whose license was pirated from a non-for-resale MSDN Subscritiption account. This license is not valid and must be replace with a genuine "full retail" windows 7 license which you can purchase from the Microsoft Store. If you have the proper documentation, you can submit a confidential Counterfeit Software Report directly with Microsoft.

Doesn't the message actually say that your Windows is non-genuine? The channel ID (the "065") is MSDN. If you bought your copy of Windows from an online seller on eBay, the Amazon Marketplace, or other site where individuals sell items then you need to see if you can get a refund at once. Individuals do not have access to the Microsoft distribution channels and usually are selling Chinese-made counterfiets. As Carey says, you need to purchase a full license copy of Windows (upgrades require genuine Windows to upgrade from).
There are tens if not hundreds of thousands of these Windows 7 counterfeits using illegally obtained MSDN product keys in very professionally produced knock-offs. We have seen many hundreds of examples just in this forum. In fact I bought one myself a couple of years ago before I learned what was going on with these fakes. Stick to the Microsoft Store, Amazon Corp., or other very reputable Microsoft partner. You won't find genuine Windows 7 at bargain basement prices. Sorry.

The failure in slmgr would probably change the precise notification wording,Colin - and the Validation failure is only a connection problem, so wouldn't have impacted so much.
