"Helpful"-votes gone

Question
-
I just noticed that from some of older posts all helpful votes are gone. For example the first post in this thread had 7 helpful votes. Now its suddenly zero.
Not a big issue, but might be a general bug...
thanks, Denniver

This thread does a better job of identifying and tracking the real issue behind the votes not displaying. Please follow it here: http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/reportabug/thread/f2e8e35e-b5f1-4321-ab9d-566c152a5c12

They're back on the example you gave.
I think there's an issue out there about how the votes display as zero (not permanently) in a specific scenario. I need to get a nailed description of that scenario. Let me know if you can reproduce it!

They seemingly re-appear if there is another vote. I can see from my activity log that someone recently voted helpful there, so i was wrong about the count, there were previously 6 votes.
The votes are gone in a lot of other threads, but i don't keep track of all the helpful votes in the forum, so i cant tell you exactly which. :)But i'm sure if someone would dig into it, there would be a bug to be found.

Hi Denniver !
I have verified several threads and didn't find any post where it has been reverted back to "Zero". Here is sample thread where i have 5 helpful votes and still they are visible without any modification;
Please let me know if this doesn’t work for you. Hope I have answered you correctly.

I can confirm this is still an issue. Though I've no idea why some posts have visible votes and some not.
I went through all my helpful post contributions in my current activity list and found no pattern. The affected threads seem to be no older than a month (no thread after 6th of September had votes. For example: No votes (~Sep 19.), Votes (~Aug 30.) (Links straight from the activity list)) Yet some older posts (~Aug 14.) have no votes either. Any earlier than that I've no idea about as the activity list only shows a certain number of activities...

Hi !
I can confirm this too. In Sipla's Activity i can see below thread as Helpful post but when i see the thread its not showing any votes;
The Only thing i can see in his post is its an edited post.
Please let me know if this doesn’t work for you. Hope I have answered you correctly.

Good example, Hasham! I am sure many people in this thread (myself included) had votes in that thread and now they are all gone.
As far as I know, it's only a display issue, they are not removed from the points (although I can not be 100% sure).

Hasham's example doesn't repro for me. I wonder if it's an issue of your own votes disappearing in specific scenarios. The votes are never gone, but they don't always display. We need more information about when they don't display.
Thanks!

Isnt it obvious? :) You needed more examples and Hasham and Sipla gave you one.
In the mean time, i saw that all missing votes on a post RE-appear if the post gets voted again.

Hi All !
Again i find the thread, which has Helpful votes included, but its showing me '0' Helpful votes when i see the thread. Please confirm with the Profile Activity of Naomi and Richard Muller they both have contributed Helpful posts on thread
Voting on the old posts - doesn't work?
So i think issue is only with the visibility of Helpful votes. Need this can be confirmed as bug.
Now adding little more to content. As soon as i voted one of the post in this thread as Helpful i am able to see all Helpful votes.
Please let me know if this doesn’t work for you. Hope I have answered you correctly.
Thanks, Hasham Niaz

I see it almost every thread myself. We just needed to crystalize on how to repro it. It's not 100% consistent, so that's part of the problem.

Hasham, I see 7 helpful votes on the post in that thread. In my profile I see two activities for me in that thread:
Helped identify a helpful topic How to Create a linked server to an iSeries (V5R4M0 and others probably) Using IBM's OLE DB Drivers via Server Management Studio in the Transact-SQL Forum.Forums | 5 days agoVoted a helpful post in the How to Create a linked server to an iSeries (V5R4M0 and others probably) Using IBM's OLE DB Drivers via Server Management Studio thread in the Transact-SQL Forum.Forums | 5 days ago
How are they different?

Yes, now I see all the votes. So, as the OP stated, sometimes we can not see helpful votes but as soon as someone adds one more vote, they become visible.
So, there is a bug around this functionality, but hard to reproduce.
