Client PC resumes from hibernate, but does not start Backup RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi there!

We have three PCs which all should perform a backup every day between 11 and 12 am:
    * 2x XP SP2 PC, starting automatically (forced by BIOS setting)
    * 1x Vista SP1 Laptop, automatically resuming from hibernate

Everything worked well, than I installed PP2. Somewhere after that, the Vista Notebook refused to back up. It's starting from hibernate every morning, but it just does not perform the backup, instead, it remains the whole day long running idle. The other two PC perform their backups just nice.

I reinstalled the (newest) WHS Connector software for the second time now. When the notebook starts, network connections seem to be all right, the WHS Console can access the WHS with no hassle when trying manually. Of course, power cord is plugged in. Manual backup is working. Firewall/AV is MS One Care, no other security apps installed.

Please help me getting the notebook back from holidays to auto-backup-jobs!

    Thank you,

    Hi,

To confirm, you can start and complete a manual backup without a problem but the backup does not start when the system wakes up and backup is set to automatic?

Have you tried extending the backup window? There may not be enough time for all three PCs to backup within that hour timeframe. I realize this worked before but some changes have been made with PP2 and you may need to extend the window. I've not seen this before but I've never seen a window that is only an hour long.

    Thanks!

  • Hi,
thank you for your quick reply!

You are right, the backup timeframe really was too small.

    thank you!
