So the story is, I pressed the Windows button -> Shut Down at the end of the night, which had a (1) update counter thing next to it. I didn't bother waiting until it completely shut down (like I didn't force shut down or anything), and I assumed it would just automatically finish updating, so I turned off the monitor and went to sleep. When I woke up in the morning, my computer was still on and I turn on the monitor, and BOOM, Windows 10 upgrade happening. I panicked and I turned off my computer via the "Suffocate the button" method and restarted it. Of course, the Windows 10 upgrade prompt was still there, so I went through it and declined the upgrade on the next page after listening to my roommate's advice. Windows 7 boots up and I am relieved. However, in the middle of a game of League, all of a sudden, a text box pops up in the bottom right corner saying that my Windows 7 is not genuine. I try the validation program and this is what it gives me. How do I fix this? Not too good with computers, so if I missed any information that is necessary, please tell me.

  • The installation is of a type ONLY valid in machines which shipped from the manufacturer (in this case, ASUS) with Windows pre-installed.

Your machine appears to be based on a retail motherboard

Therefore, the installation is classed as counterfeit.

If you purchased this machine with Windows pre-installed, is there a COS Sticker on the case? If so, for what version and edition of Windows?

If there is no sticker, you should complain to the vendor and demand a refund of the value of the Windows installation.
