Do I need the launhpad/dashboard running for backups? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Just a quick question that I wasn't able to find in my searching. I like to keep my systems lean and only keep (what I think) are the most useful processes running at startup. Since I won't be using the launchpad or dashboard everyday, I opted to stop them from starting up at launch time. I didn't think they were needed for a backup but maybe they are? I do have an automatic backup that was run without starting the launchpad or dashboard but I'm just looking to be sure.

    Thanks.

*EDIT* - I should be more clear: my question is in regards to client backups, as I'm sure the server takes care of the server backups regardless.

They are not required to be running in order to backup clients.
