Question
-
Hello,
I have a requirement to uncheck the check box shown in image below.
Is there any registry path that I can edit or any script to do the same.
Thanks in advance.

Here is an MSDN discussion on how Automatic Maintenance is run. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/hh848037(v=vs.85).aspx
It shows how to define a maintenance task but doe snot document how to change the wake settings. It appears that the checkbox is not a registry setting but a process. It is used to set or unset values in the configuration. Some tasks cannot be altered and will wake the system no matter what the setting.
Microsoft has left this undocumented mostly because they do not want users to arbitrarily make changes.
More information is likely available in the platform SDK.

Use Group policy to turn this off.

Can u share the script to be deployed as Group PolicyTuesday, April 15, 2014 10:15 AM -
Thanks for the reply JRV.
Can u share the script to be deployed as Group PolicyNot a script. GP is not a script and does not use scripts to manage settings.
Post your question in the GP forum for up-to-date info on how to use GP to manage system maintenance settings.

Last time. There is NO registry entry for this. It is handled by a service process that is run under tehWIndows Scheduler. Please read what I posted and ask all future questions in the Group Policy forum.

I want to disable automatic maintenance without group policy. Is there any registry key or script to change it. I want to unchecked the box which makes the settings.
If we do it with task scheduler it creates a new task everyday. Is there any way to permanently unchecked the check box?

Hi,
See this thread with the exact same question:
Don't retire TechNet! - (Don't give up yet - 12,830+ strong and growing)
This is funny. The answer points back to the question because the two threads were merged.
Thank you Bill and KhushbooPatel. You have created a black hole. The Internet will never be the same.
is KhushbooPatel like "Baby Boo Boo"? I thought "Khush" was spelled "Kush". You know...K2 and all that.
