CRM 2013 SP1 - Dialog, Advnaced Find, and run a Dialog for more than one record. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is there any way to have Advanced Find window in a Dialog? I would like to get some input from the users in a CRM Dialog and then allow users to select/choose specific set of records of custom entity as a next step in a Dialog itself, and change the user inserted values to that set of records of the same entity. Can anybody please advise how to achieve it?

    OR

Can I run a Dialog for more than one record, for selected records?

Any help would be much appreciated.

  • It's not possible to run a dialog on more than one selected record, unfortunately. Within a dialog you can prompt a user to select one record, but not multiple records.

If you require user input, and need this to apply to multiple selected records, then you can create a web resource to do this. To run the web resource, create a ribbon button and add a CrmParameter with value=SelectedControlSelectedItemIds to pass the selected records.

  • Hello David,

    Thank you for the response.

At the moment, I have called a custom workflow activity from a Dialog to update the records of entity. The Dialog has Query option and this query generates fetchxml, is there any ways to pass this auto generated fetchxml from a Dialog to a custom workflow activity?

I can understand the suggested way of web resource, but it requires a good amount of time in development, the client has rejected the given estimates for the same. Although, is it possible to have similar custom ribbon button at Advanced Find for a specific entity?

Please feel free to share the unsupportive way too, if any.
