Formatting CRM 2011 System Views RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is it possible to change the formatting of columns (alignment, data format, etc) in Outlook and have those setting retained in the view?

I am able to apply conditional formatting by following this: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/crm/archive/2010/10/06/microsoft-dynamics-crm-2011-let-s-get-conditional.aspx and those changes seem to stick view my views as long as I save and publish prior to closing Outlook.

However, when I apply basic column formatting changes (center a field or change the data format) those changes are not retained.

Is this possible to do? I need to align my data in my views so they are more "readable".

    Suggestions?

    Dave

  • Dave - There's a lot I'd like to be able to 'tweak' on some formatting of views as well - These options aren't yet in the product, so I'd encourage you to submit very specific suggestions in 'connect' - The product team really does use these suggestions and votes to weigh what they are investing dev resources in.

  • Would love to log a suggestion with Connect, but the site seems to be experiencing issues. I'll keep trying over the next few days.

  • According to http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg985383.aspx, it seems to be possible to export a view, add conditional formatting to the XML and re-import. The issue is finding the syntax of the conditional formatting string. Any ideas?

  • Scott, are you sure it's not possible to export a public view, add conditional formatting to the XML and reimport it? I'm referring to this - http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg985383.aspx. If this is possible can you tell me where I can get examples of the conditional formatting string?
