Configuring MS CRM Outlook with External CRM URL Not working RRS feed

  • Hi all,

    I have configured MS CRM 2011 for MS office outlook in my  office system and i have an External URL to access our crm from home.In my  home PC I can access crm  in web client using external url. Now I need to access the CRM in my outlook. So I downloaded the "CRM2011-Client-ENU-i386.exe" and installed it. Next while  doing Configuration  I am gave the server url as my External url ( and click the test connection it gives an error  as

    the specified microsfot dynamics CRM server address(URL) is not responding.Ask your administrator toverfiy the server is turned on, and then try again"

    What is the reason for this ? How to configure crm outlook for different domain users?

    Please check that the local time from your local machine matches with the server time.

  • Hi,

    Have you configured IFD on your CRM-server (IFD description: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg188602.aspx)? Regarding the URL you mentioned above I think you haven't...

    To use the crm outlook client from external you HAVE TO configure IFD because otherwise the authentication will fail.

    Is it Required configure Email router in crm server. Then only we can configure crm in users system using the external URL?

    I am bit confused , that is I can access crm in web client but with same URL i can't configure the outlook.

    I am getting same error that is  "the specified Microsoft dynamics CRM server address(URL) is not responding"

    How it will be fixed?

  • Hi Krishn,

    You might have a problem with the server name. You are connecting to the server using IP and the server is probably (very likely even) responding with it's name. If you create a record in your host file and use the server name instead of the ip it might work.
