Can't activate Win 7 OEM purchased from newegg.com because key is blocked RRS feed

  • Question

  • Purchased hardware and Win7 OEM OS to build another computer for my business. The Win 7 OEM package I received from newegg was sealed and looks official just like all the other Win Vista OEM OSs that I have ordered from newegg in the recent past that activated just fine.

Any reason why this product key would be blocked?

    Thanks.

  • Please attempt a phone activation, if that fails Darin can check your key in the morning. Newegg is in my opinion a trustworthy vendor.

    Activate by phone

    1. Type "slui 4" in the start menu search box, hit enter

    2. Select country or region

    3. Dial the number, DO NOT select any menu options, just wait and a person will pick up.

    4. activate by phone.

  • Hello, and thank you everyone for all the help so far from both Newegg and Microsoft.

I sent an email to the address specified by Newegg Support on 19 Nov and have not heard back from that agent so far. When I tried to start an RMA at the Newegg website, I received an email from another Newegg agent that directed me to get with Microsoft to see if they could help before the RMA can be started.

I did try the phone activation and got the same result (could not be activated). So, if someone could let me know whether it could be fixed from Microsofts end or not, then I can resume the RMA process if that is what is needed.

    Thanks, and happy Holidays everyone.

  • 1800-390-1119 ext 25062  Try calling that number and extension for the new egg rep that responded to your post. Refer him to this post.

  • Hi Jason,

I contacted the Newegg Support person on Monday and he stated he had received your communication. I am unsure why you haven't received a response. You may want to call and try the extension he provided: 1800-390-1119 ext 25062

Unfortunately, an RMA with Newegg will be needed to resolve this issue.

    Thank you,

  • I also had this same thing happen. I contacted Microsoft and they informed me that this is an issue for Newegg to address as they can't help me with a blocked/stolen license key.

How is it that Newegg can allow this sort of thing to happen, and then make the consumer jump through hoops to get it resolved? I've been in LiveChat and on phone calls with Newegg all afternoon trying to get this resolved.

  • Ditto on the same problem.  Windows 7 Pro OEM.  Purchased from Newegg.  After chatting with newegg CS, a RMA was issued and I'll be sending my copy back and hopefully the copy they are sending me will be activate-able.  I really don't think the problem is on Newegg's end, and I hope, REALLY hope, Microsoft investigates what is going on and refunds Newegg for its time and patience in cleaning up what will probably be a mistake on Microsoft's Anti-Piracy group.

It's a LOT more likely that someone within Newegg has been pilfering copies of Windows, and replacing them with counterfeits. The more information that can be got to Newegg on this, the more likely it is that they an find and stop the culprit(s).

  • Well I am running into the same issue here. Windows Pro 7 OEM. Unfortuneatly it's New Years and I'm stuck with a bunch of new hardware and every support number is "after hours" (even Microsoft which kind of boggles my mind) I hope to hear some sort of immediate news as I only have 15 days to test the processor/Motherboard and memory a RMA I fear will be too slow.

PLEASE POST TO A NEW THREAD!!!!
To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
    Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.
