"Deployment Web Service URL is not available" error on remote PowerShell session RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have a CRM 2015 distributed environment set up with the following roles:
    2 Front End Servers
    2 Async Servers
    1 Deployment Server

The front end and deployment web servers are set up to use SSL with the appropriate certificates.

I can run all the PowerShell cmdlets fine when I am logged into the Deployment server. However, if I open a remote PowerShell session from my desktop to the Deployment Server I get the following error:

Deployment Web Service URL is not available.  This can be specified using the DwsServerUrl parameter.
        + CategoryInfo          : InvalidArgument: (Microsoft.Crm.P...anizationCmdlet:GetCrmOrganizationCmdlet) [Get-CrmOrganization], ArgumentException
        + FullyQualifiedErrorId : CRM Deployment Cmdlet Error,Microsoft.Crm.PowerShell.GetCrmOrganizationCmdlet

If I specify -Credential and -DwsServerUrl when running the cmdlets, they work fine. However, I'm trying to create an automated script to run some of these cmdlets so passing that information might not be possible. We have a few all in one CRM 2015 Sandboxes set up that I can remote to fine and run all the CRM cmdlets so I'm assuming this issue has something to do with the server roles being split up. We have a separate Deployment Web Service URL set up to point to the deployment server and I have that URL configured in Web Address Settings in Deployment Manager.

Has anyone else run into this and/or know how to resolve it?

    Thanks in advance,

  • If you are trying to run through remote Powershell session, make sure you are logged in at your local desktop as one of the deployment admin.
