VM Ware Fusion - Windows is not genuine RRS feed

  • Question

  • Using VM Ware Fusion, I ported over my computer to my Mac. Everything was working well, when I recently uninstalled a MS Project program. Now my desktop is black and informs me that my windows isn't genuine "Build 7601". When I called Dell and Microsoft, they wanted me to buy a new license and charge me for Technical Support. Obviously, my computer thinks that both windows programs are installed on my Dell and now my Virtual Machine.

I have added the diagnostic report on the bottom. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

  • You are using an OEM System-Locked Preinstallation license on a computer for which this copy of Windows is not valid.

    Windows License Type: OEM SLP

OEM copies may not be transferred to a another computer.  OEM SLP copies require matching codes in an SLIC table in the computer's BIOS.  Not only does your computer not have the correct codes, it doesn't even have a BIOS (Macs don't).

This copy of Windows is not valid on any computer except the one it shipped with.  You need to purchase a full license copy of Windows and reinstall.
