Formatting using using backup disk RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm replacing the oem hard drive (120G) on my Acer lap top w/ a new one (500G).
Can I format the new drive w/ the embedded backup info in my Acer eRecovery Management?
There are four options given: 1) burn a backup disk using factory default
                                               2) burn a backup disk using user's backup
                                               3) copy current system configuration to disk
                                               4) burn an application backup disk

Or should I pay the Geek Squad $130 to do it for me? :(

  • Hello PhatBoy,

As for what option to choose (1-4) I recommend contacting Acer and ask what Percisely each option does and chose the one the best meets your needs (you may also ask in the XP Newgroups http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/newsgroups/reader.mspx  and see if anyone has experience with the Acer eRecovery Manager and what each option does.

As for wether you should do it yourself or have Geek Squad do it, that is competly up to your confort level.

Sorry I couldn't be more help,
    Darin MS
