  • Question

  • I was thinking this was possible, but I could be remembering incorrectly.

  • OCS is not required in order to use Exchange UM but depending on your specific phone system a gateway (or the functionailty a GW prevides) will be needed in order for voice traffic between the PBX and Exchange UM services.

  • I only have OCS right now.  Just wanting to put UM behind it.  Do I need anything to connect OCS to UM, is my question?

  • You need to read the Enterprise Voice deployment guide for the commands and tools to use

But you don't need a Gateway to connect OCS to Exchange UM only!

  • Some possible scenarios:-

    Exchange 2007 SP1 only:

    UM --- IP-PBX --- PSTN
    UM --- IP Gateway --- Hybrid/IP-PBX --- PSTN

    Exchange 2007 SP1 and OCS 2007 / R2:

UM and OCS on same IP network --- Mediation Server (OCS) --- [ SIP/PSTN Gateway ] --- Hybrid/IP-PBX --- PSTN

Note that OCS 2007 uses UM feature in Exchange 2007 SP1.

    Hope this helps.
