Cannot activate WinXPPro after removal of Vista RC1

Question
-
Hi all,
last night I removed Vista RC1 because it made a mess of my dual boot laptop. (Vista - XP Pro). My installation of XP was also damaged so I needed to reinstall XP (and Office 2k3) as well.
The thing is, now, that XP won't activate but Office 2003 did. I can't find the problem, since I have the genuine cd and product key before me.
I tried to contact the (Dutch) customer support, but they informed me that the product key I gave was registered as XP Media Center Edition instead of XP Pro. We had quite a discussion going on, but the woman on the phone refused to help me. So now I'm stuck.
Anyone who can help me?

Tom Cs,
You need to activate by phone. Please go through the activation process, and it will guide you to where you can choose to either activate online, or by phone.

Problem: Genuine Validation Status: Not Activated
Try the following:
1. Reboot your computer into "Safe Mode".
A description of the Safe Mode Boot options in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315222/en-us2. Go to Start > Run and type: %systemroot%\system32 then press the Enter key.
3. Locate these two files: wpa.dbl and wpa.bak
4. Rename the wpa.dbl file to wpaold.dbl and wpa.bak to wpaold.bak
5. Reboot your computer into Normal Mode. This will force activation on the following boot. Sometimes if those files get corrupted, they can cause this type of problem.
If the above procedure does not solve the problem, then try:

Tom:
Are you an official Vista RC1 Beta tester? There is specific support related to Vista RC1 issues.
