integrate webservice code to access crm3 and crm4

We are design system to functionality(create/retrive
/update entities) between our existing java application and CRM.
Our system is running fine with MSCRM 3.0

Recently we installed CRM 4.0 and trying to connect.

CRM3 is installed on 192.168.0.102
CRM4 is installed on 192.169.0.103

crm3 webservice url is http://192.168.0.102/MSCRMServices/2006/CrmService.asmx
In crm4 we found two webservice url
http://192.168.0.103/MSCRMServices/2006/CrmService.asmx and
http://192.168.0.103/MSCRMServices/2007/CrmService.asmx

I need your comment on the following . this is we made the changes to access both crm3 and crm4's http://192.168.0.103/MSCRMServices/2006/CrmService.asmx url

In the crm3's webservice code
we replace the com.microsoft.schemas.crm._2006.WebServices package with the soucre generated the web service code from http://192.168.0.103/MSCRMServices/2006/CrmService.asmx . (that is replace only that package with crm4's )

Now we can access(create/retrieve/update entities) both crm3 and crm4 by using the same webservice code.

Would it be ok? what is your suggestion? Any issues will arise ?

You should be ok if your running a single organization and don't need to take advantage of any of the features of the CRM 4.0 endpoint. The 2006 endpoint is for compatiblity with CRM3, while the new endpoint has all the features for CRM 4.0.

If you ever need to access the multi-tenant capabitlities of CRM 4.0 you can't do that on the 2006 endpoint as it only works with the default org.
