  • To remove Avast - use  Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall A Program, select Avast, and hit the Remove button. Follow the instructions.
    I cannot do that step. Control Panel keeps closing itself.

    OK - you can either use the alternative link in the Avast folder in All Programs, or boot to Safe Mode, and do it from there.
