Repair message not clear (not to me, anyway) RRS feed

  • Question

  • I get the following warning:

    "Volume with name DE secondary volume is failing. Please try to run Repair for (the name of the disk)."

    I see the disk repair tool on the storage tab but note that it indicates a possible data loss.

    I am running a system with two identical disks with duplication enabled and assume that the primary disk (not the one with the problem) will not be effected regardless of the success of repair attempts on the secondary disk.

    Am I wrong?  I so, suggestions, please.

    Thanks in advance...

  • I think you're right the message is confusing;

    You do risk loosing data on the failing disk, however for shares with duplication enabled your data should be safe. The only data at risk are the client backups. If you don't want to loose the client backups you can copy them to another (external) disk using the WHS BDBB Add-in.
