I'm attempting to document material surfaces using ICE by laying a tape measure on objects and taking multiple pictures (say every 8in or so, traveling linearly one direction only). The material surface (wood, metal) doesn't seem to have enough variation
or reference points to use to stitch the photos together. I thought the tape measure, with the unique numbers, would do the trick, but ICE seems to ignore them. I'll get a nice stitched together photo showing the ruler jumping from like the 10in
mark to the 22in mark, them from like the 26in mark, to the 31in mark. There is no pattern to it. My guess is the algorithm is looking for reference markers in the material, and not looking at the black and yellow tape measure too closely.
Should I add colored stickers or some other type of objects to give the program something to reference? anyone had success with marco photography they can share?
