Activating Home Premium RRS feed

  • Question

  • I got a new laptop there quite recently and I am having trouble activating Windows Vista Home Premium. For some reason when I enter my Home Premium product key I get the following error message.

"The product key you have entered will not work with this edition of Windows Vista.

You must either run Windows Vista Setup or enter a Windows Vista Business product key."

It appears that a business edition had been previously installed for some reason. Does this mean I have to re-install Windows Vista or is there a way around this? The problem is that I did not get a Windows installation disc on purchase either. Is there a handy way to get one of these installation discs?

Any help on this would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

  • You'll have to contact the party who sold you the laptop.  If you were given the wrong key for your version you'll have to get the right key or the right version from them.  May I ask where you bought your laptop?  If it's a big seller I might be able to alleviate this hassle for other customers.  Thank you!
