OCS 2007 R2 on EBS deployment, possible? RRS feed

  • EBS comes with a mangement server, a messaging server and a security server.  All three seem to have something to do with exchange, although security as the edge and messaging with client, hub and mailbox makes sense.  Can I install OCS2007 on the management server as it may just have the tools, or will I have similar issues with system center and it's use of IIS, WSUS and ports?  I realize my mediation needs to be on another box, but do I have to set up a 5th box for OCS?  Trying to do all this within the confines of what is avaiable in the action pack plus some purchased enterprise licenses of OCS.

  • Hi Thomas,

    You need a separate box for your OCS 2007 R2 front end server, this role can't be collocated with any other role including any EBS servers.
    You can install the OCS 2007 R2 Administrative Tools on your management server to manage the environment, but not the OCS 2007 R2 program files themselves.
