Email Router Configuration for Dynamics CRM 2011 RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have Email router setup for On-Premise CRM 2011 installation where queue mailboxes are configured. So, wherever a mail comes to the queue mailbox e.g. (abc@test.com) it's tracked inside CRM. This works fine, no issues here.
Now, our client just acquired another company (a new Domain), a normal email forwarding was setup on the acquired company's online exchange server i.e. if a mail is sent to (example@acquiredcompany.com) then it will be forwarded to (abc@test.com).

The intention behind this is that the emails coming to "example@acquiredcompany.com" will be tracked in CRM b/c they are being forwarded to "abc@test.com".

But this does not work as expected. The mails are coming to abc mailbox but they're not being tracked in CRM; the reason, email forwarding does not change the "To" email address, so although the mail has been forwarded it still holds the original email address in the "To" field and thus it does not get tracked.

How can this be achieved. Any pointers would really help us out. Hope I have made the scenario clear enough for everyone to understand.

  • Why not create another profile in the Email Router and track the mailbox directly?

Won't it require to create new Queues with the new email address that we want to track? If yes, then we cannot do that.

Reason being, the way things are configures in the system is we have an account and each account has a queue associated which tracks the emails associated with that account. We cannot do two queues for the same account.
