AMD Graphics driver failure on attempting to load any media RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I have attempted to use the Hyperlapse Pro software several times today, at first for an already edited and converted GoPro Hero 3 Silver video, 963mb in size. There was a consistent graphics driver failure at 47% each attempt. Now, whenever I launch Hyperlapse, even trying to start a new project with raw go pro footage the software immediately crashes and my graphics card drivers stop responding, but restore themselves.

I am running Windows 8.1 with AMD Radeon R9 280x on a PC build. (20gb ram)

Please advise, I have tried restarting.

  • We recently released a newer version of Hyperlapse that allows you to disable hardware video encoding, which we've seen help with situations similar to this.

Ensure you have the latest version of Hyperlapse (1.1.5637.34085, you can check this by clicking the help icon), then click on the gear icon and ensure the 'Use hardware video encoder' is unchecked.

  • Does this happen in "Standard" or "Advanced" smoothing mode?

Have you tried getting the latest drivers from the AMD site? http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop?os=Windows+8.1+-+64

  • Hi Matt,

Thanks for the quick response,  Unfortunately I can't get as far as the standard or advanced mode selection as it crashes as soon as I start new project and select media. I have the latest drivers for my gfx card.

  • Hello, I have almost the same problem. Its not crashes but after driver stops its wont process video any more so if there was 63% or 47% it will remain nothing you can do. So I tried to process video at least 5 times and its always the same problem.. camera go pro 3+ black edition. The video file is about 3.8 gb in size.

I am running Windows 8.1 with AMD Radeon R9 270x in crossfire with 7870, CPU is i5 4670, MB Asus Z97-A, 8gb of ram.

  • I also have the same problem. AMD drivers crash on startup and Hyperlapse becomes non-responsive. Windows 7 64bit, Radeon R7 260

  • Hi there!

I'm still having trouble making this work.. =(

PC specs: Windows 7 home premium, AMD phenom 9850 quad core 2.5 ghz (yea, need to upgrade this soon)

I've gone thru all suggestions on the forum (e.g. installing hyperlapse as an admin, reinstalling visual C++ redistributable visual studio 2013, windows media on, hardware accelerated video encoding off). Everything on the desktop is up to date. And yet still, the program can not open a mp4 file and crashes. The video file is less than 1080, +/- 10 min long, 60 fps. I'm not that computer savy, but hopefully i can provide some sufficient specs for this problem. Under Event Viewer, the administrative events has 4 errors that occurs when i try to open a file via hyperlapse. In chronological order - 1) .NET runtime: it was described terminated due to an unhandled exception, with the Exception Info stating System.AccessViolationException. 2) Application Error: Faulting module was AMDh264Enc64.dll. 3/4) Service Control Manager: "The ScRegSetValueExW call failed for start with the following error: Access is denied."

What is interesting is that I've made a hyperlapse before using a dummy mp4 file that was 10mb and 360x240. I'm guessing the graphics card is not compatible for higher res? If so, will there be an update?

    THanks!!
