SyncToy error: cannot write to the destination file RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have recently installed SyncToy 2.1 on a laptop running Vista. My plan was to have a copy of the "My documents" folder on my PC running Windows XP available to use on my laptop and keep the two folders in sync. When I have the laptop in the same place as the PC, the computers are linked via a wireless router.
In SyncToy on my laptop the Left Folder is the PC "my documents" folder and the Right Folder is the copy on my laptop.
When I run SyncToy, any new files created on the laptop get copied to the PC, but for files that have been changed on the laptop the error log shows: "Error: Cannot write to the destination file. Cannot create a file when that file already exists. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800700B7) Copying ...."  and then proceeds to show the file paths for the file that has been changed (on the laptop) and the file it would like to overwrite (on the PC).
Any advice on resolving this would be appreciated.
