how to pay for additional registrations RRS feed

  • Question

  • I recently installed Live OneCare in a small office that has 4 employees but seven computers.  I purchased one subsciption and activated the first three computers.  I then went to the fourth computer and logged on and tried to purchase an additional subsciption but could not find out where to do so.  However, I was able to activate the fourth (and  5th, 6th, & 7th) computer using the original Live ID and all 7 computers show up in my OneCare Circle.  Now I just need to know how to pay for 2 additional subsciptions so the software police don't show up.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • The police won't show up, but as you've found, using the same LiveID simply associates the 4th through 7th PCs to the same subscription. You'll need to uninstall and reinstall on PCs 4 through 7 and use a *different* LiveID for each of two additional subscriptions. When you activate with a different LiveID you will be prompted for payment of a retail key.

The current limitation is one subscription for 3 PCs per LiveID, so for 7 licenses, you need 3 LiveIDs with 1 subscription each.

  • I believe you may actually be able to go to the Hub and remove 4 of the PCs from the Circle, which will cause them to be unsubscribed. I can't tell you if you can then simply activate those 4 PCs once again or if you will need to reinstall.
