Win7 64 and 32bit BLOCKED RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

A couple of months ago I bought a sealed copy of Win 7 Ultimate from an Ebay seller in America.  I hadn't installed it to the computer as I was actually making the pc up, buying the parts as and when I could afford them. I installed the 32 bit disk on the pc first, going on without a hitch and activating. I installed the new memory just purchased, the put on the 64 bit disk. Again activated ok. Not two weeks down the line, after an Update, I find that MS has blocked the key.

I am not going to pay out again.  The plastic case was sealed with a COA across its seam, and the product key on a card.

Why do you think some people sell dodgy copies-- because the real ones are far far too expensive.

I cannot get any redress from seller because of the time I have had these disk before actually using them.

If you want all the numbers on the disk box, I can supply them.

Got new XP disks still waiting for installing on another made up computer for my OWN use.

Got MS keyboard sets, Win7 on a laptop, new X BOX 360, had new ME op sys, train simulator abd other MS games, and you want me to pay again--no chance.

This disk set of Win7 Ultimate should have been checked and flagged on first startup, not as some others have found, months down the line.

To say I am NOT happy is an understatement.

    Thanks,

    Greg Doull

There’s no point in getting angered at MS – you bought a counterfeit copy of WIn 7
Your Windows Key is from a not-for-resale MSDN account.
You need to claim an immediate refund from the vendor - do NOT accept the offer of a new key.(all they are trying to do is to get past the 45-day claims window. or avoid you sending the evidence of their crimes to the authorities)

The pirates have got VERY good at this over the past few years, as the price of equipment for manufacturing the packages drops, and as factories open in less well-policed countries.

  • The problem is that the product key is a valid MSDN product key, so until Microsoft had enough information to identify it as being used by non-subscribers MS could not block it.  The counterfeiters are careful not to oversell the keys too soon so it takes time to detect the abuse.

  • Thanks for your answers. It seems funny that as soon as I purchased the software, the seller disappeared. When I was building this new pc, as the funds came available, the software was in my box of goodies to be installed. So the 45 Ebay days time limit came and went.

The reason for going for this software package was it was priced at £45. If I had known about this MSDN stuff, I would not have bothered. It was because the exhorbitant costs from MS why I went that way. British Rail and Uk services mentality- cant see that if service was cheaper, they would get more people using the trains and services, so make more money.

There have been people in this forum who have bought genuine Windows software and still having trouble activating/ getting blocked.

So WHO do you buy Win7 64 bit from in UK, and at what price, please.

I have 16Gb of memory installed in  this new puter, so need the 64 bit system to recognise it, otherwise I would have been more than happy to keep to XP.

    Thanks again,

    Greg
