Vista Business Upgrade - worked fine last year, now re-installed and have lockout timer going.... what are my options? RRS feed

  • Hello -

Need to know how to resolve this please:

Thinkpad with OEM XPSP2 from IBM. Bought Vista Business upgrade last DEC / early 2007. Installed and upgraded no-problem. Ran with this for the past year. Bought myself a new Thinkpad with VB32 pre-installed from Lenovo. Decided to wipe old Thinkpad and re-install "clean" OS and give this old laptop to my wife. Chose the Custom option and let it wipe the old OS clean... now when the upgrade license is input, the WGA fails and tells me the upgrade is not valid for this install..... what can I do to resolve this? I really do not want to wipe the laptop, re-install XPSP2, re-install the VB upgrade and carry on from there.... can the support line give me a new code which will work in this case? Or is there another option out there? TIA for the help!
