What does “Third Party Extension Buttons” modify,... RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

    at first i wonder why all add-ons wont work and IE tells me that they have been disabled but then i made a search in the www for such an effect and what registry/system entries have been modified with this checkbox when checked on. Well, i found out that this restriction have been applied mainly by changing settings in the Registry. Can someone tell me what keys exactly have been affected by this option? I mean i can run a procmon or regmon against the system while changing stuff, but if someone has a brief and short answer, then he or she is welcome to write me here,...

    Best Regards

    Hi Kerem, you can find this in C:\Program Files\Windows SteadyState\XML\Restrict.xml:

    <restriction id="chkRestrictIEToolbarExtensionButton" name="Third party extension buttons" _locID="chkRestrictIEToolbarExtensionButton" high="on" medium="off" low="off">

                        <poke resid="chkRestrictIEToolbarExtensionButton" regkey="Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Ext\RestrictToList" type="REG_DWORD" on="1" off="0" delete=""></poke>

    Hope this helps!
