Purchased computer supposedly with Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. Was built by someone online. All has been fine until i installed antivirus from microsoft. I even checked the validation prior to purchasing so as not to have this problem. Now I get an error reading 0xc004603 . The only thing I can think of was that I installed that program. I am a 50 year old female that woldn't usuually buy a computer this way but it was custom and was exactly what we needed. i ran the tool as suggested and got this:

Unfortunately, whoever built your computer also installed a counterfeit copy of Windows 7 Ultimate edition. In order to fix this problem, you'll need to purchase a conventional "Full Retail" edition of Windows 7 and perform a "clean install". Full retail editions of Windows 7 are available from the Microsoft Store. Please see: How To Clean Install Windows 7

Thanks for responding. Can I just do the "get genuine " thing and pay so I do not have to go through all that?Monday, December 12, 2011 3:39 AM

You can try but you'll likely have to perform a "clean install".
