CAL requirement. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Question 1- How to decide when the cal is required for example.

Situation 1- A file server with domain is accessible to users through normal sharing mode.

Situation 2- A file server without domain is accessible to users through normal sharing mode.

so does both the situation requires CAL.

Question 2-  If anyone has the list on what conditions we do need cal. For example domain controller, DHCP, webserver etc. I need the deciding factors for cal.

  • I assume you are not talking about Windows Home Server (the subject of this Forum)? WHS does not use CALs.
