Using DynDNS or Similar Service to Get Around Company Block RRS feed

  • Question

  • I want to be able to access my WHS from work, but the company has the homeserver.com domain blocked.  I was thinking of using DynDNS instead, but don't really have experience with setting this up.  Has anyone else done something similar?

  • You can do it. The easiest way is to register a free domain at dyndns.org and if your router allows directly configure the appropriate information there. The only drawback of this method is the certificate, which is only issued for the original domain name, so you will get always the certificate warning, if you try to connect via web interface.

Or you follow your company policy and do not use your home server from work :-)

That would be my suggestion too, I've fired users that violate IT policy and try to get around company firewalls.
