Upgrading Certification From SQL Server 2008 to 2012 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am very confused as to what tests I need to take to upgrade my SQL Server Certification.  Are the tests the following?

    • Exam 457: Transition your MCTS on SQL Server 2008 to MCSA: SQL Server 2012 – Part 1
    • Exam 458: Transition your MCTS on SQL Server 2008 to MCSA: SQL Server 2012 – Part 2
    • Exam 459: Transition your MCITP: Database Administrator 2008 or MCITP: Database Developer 2008 to MCSE: Data Platform

Or are there different tests that I should be taking?

  • I have learned from Microsoft that I only need to take the following two exams:

    • Exam 457: Transition yourMCTS on SQL Server 2008 to MCSA: SQL Server 2012 – Part 1
    • Exam 458: Transition your MCTS on SQL Server 2008 to MCSA: SQL Server 2012 – Part 2

  • Exams 457 and 485 will only upgrade your MCTS on SQL Server 2008 into a MCSA in SQL Server 2012. However, if you have a MCITP on SQl Server 2008 (which obviously implies that you also have the MCTS), then you may wish to upgrade into a MCSE in SQL Server 2012, which is a higher level certification than just the MCSA. In this case, you need to add exam 459 to the two preceding ones.

  • Hello,

I have query about Same upgradation.

I have MCITP 70-432 ( SQL 2008). I am planning for certification for SQL 2012

Does it is better to give SQL 2012 Certifcation seperately or should i purse 70-450 (MCITP) and then plan for SQL 2012 Certification Upgrade ?

I have read in the blog that ""SQL Server 2008 exams are still available until July 31, 2013.""

Does it was final or it was extended ??
