Outbound call answered by Fax machine RRS feed

  • Question

  • When we make an outbound call and the other end is picked up by a Fax machine, our SIP provider sends a T.38 re-INVITE.

Is there any way of intercepting this re-INVITE and then ending the call?  Right now, MSS is responding with a 488, which is fine, but we'd like to make note that the phone number was a Fax machine.

    Thanks,

    John

  • Subscribe to ITelephonySession.Redirecting.  Properties on RedirectingEventArgs should give you want you need.

  • The description for Redirecting says "Raised when a SIP redirect (302) is received.

What about ITelephonySession.RedirectMediaRequested or ITelephonySession.RedirectMediaCompleted?  What is the e.RemoteMediaDescription property for these?  Is it the entire SDP or just a section?

  • Ah, sorry, reInvite rather than redirect. My mistake.  Yes, RedirectMediaRequested may be what you want.  Try it.  RedirectMediaCompleted is the pair for RedirectMediaAsync, so is not what you want.
