I've had this computer for a few years, and recently I've been getting the black screen and pop-ups saying my Windows 7 Home Premium is not genuine. How can I fix it? I know it is genuine but my sticker number will not validate it. RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am not computer savvy, but I have been struggling with this problem for a couple of months at least. I am afraid it is going to ruin my computer because when I am using it the fans keep coming on. I have tried contacting Microsoft, HP and still have gotten no help. I don't think I should have to pay for a new validation number when I am positive it is genuine. I don't know how to fix it, but I know it is because I have downloaded the SP1 pack. Please help me.

  • To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool

(download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )

     Once saved, run the tool.

Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.

To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.x

      - in your own thread, please

Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!
