Problem in installation of Synctoy at Windows Server 2003 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am experienced problem in installation of synctoy at my windows server 2003. I am ok with WinXP but not server 2003.
It shows a fatal error in installation of microsoft sync framework. Are there any settings in server 2003 prohibiting synctoy installation?

    Thanks.

  • I am able to install the SyncToy 2.1 on my Windows Server 2003.  what is the error ?

By the way,  you need to have .NET 2.0 installed first before the sync toy / sync framework.

    Thanks.

  • Thanks.

The error message is like that:

Component Microsoft Sync Framework 2.0 Core Components has failed to install with the following error message:
"A fatal error occurred during the installation of Microsoft Sync Framework 2.0 Core Components."

The following components were not installed:
    - Microsoft Sync Framework 2.0 Provider Services

The following components failed to install:
    - Microsoft Sync Framework 2.0 Core Components

See the setup log file located at 'C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\VSD3E5C.tmp\install.log' for more information.

I already have .NET 2.0 & 3.0. I don't know how to do. Thanks again.

  • I will forward this log to the development team.

Meanwhile, I saw you have "Process exited with code 1603" at the bottom of the log.

"This error usually results when the Microsoft Installer is attempting to install more than one program at a time. This can include system updates (Windows Update), startup services, or other installations."

Do you mind checking whether you have other installation going on well?  My suggestion is to reboot the box and give a try again.

    Thanks.

  • There should be no installation in progress...but I will try to reboot tonight when everybody left.

  • Hi Deepa

I will try but need some time as I am not familiar with debugging. Thanks.

FYI, the result is the same after reboot.

  • Hi Terry - I assume you are an admin on the machine you are trying to install?

Can you try installing just the Sync Framework and see if it suceeds or still fails?:

From the bottom of this page:

    Select
