Don't know where to start!

Question

Hello all,
I'm knew to TechNet, and relatively new to the IT world. All I know is a little Python and Java programming, and I'm working on A+ certification right now. Just wondering, on the Learn tab above, where to start. There a lot of options and I don't know which ones are for beginners like me. Any other IT training resources would be welcome also. Any suggestions on what to learn for MS development, i.e. languages?
Thanks!
Jared

Hi Jared,
You've got kind of an interesting mix of development and support there. If you are going the A+ path you should probably watch the learning material on Windows 7 desktop support and go for the MCTS Windows 7 support (http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en-us/mcsa-windows-7-certification.aspx) qualification.
If you were more interested in the development route then Microsoft has some online material for C# and web app development.

You can navigate to the Microsoft Virtual Academy (http://www.microsoftvirtualacademy.com/) and choose one of the courses that is marked "for beginners". For instance, since you know some Python and Java programming, you may be interested in one of the courses for software development, such as one of these:
Alternatively, since you are working on A+, you may be interested on pursuing a career as an IT-Pro. The home page of the Microsoft Virtual Academy will also point you at several introductory courses within this area.

That's kind of my "problem". I like both support and development, but I guess I'll have to chose between the two eventually.
Thanks for your answer
